The inside dimensions of the normal 5" x 5" measure 4 3/8" x 4 3/8". An included plastic spacer will reduce the size down to 4 1/8" x 4 1/8" for mounting on smaller posts. These lights will not fit correctly on a 4" x 4" post. For that size purchase our lights for 4" x 4" posts. These 5" x 5" lights will not fit on a 6" x 6" post unless you cut the post top down to a size that these lights will fit over. No Wiring No Electricity & No Hassles!
